The Lisbon Treaty gives the European Union the Constitution of a EU Federal State, which would have primacy over the Irish, and other national Constitutions making it a proverbial "United States of Europe" (USE). (Arts.1 and 47 TEU; Declaration 17 concerning Primacy) This type of federalism is not in the best interests of the average EU citizen. It benefits giant corporations the same way that the now corrupted federalism in the US benefits corporations that sue farmers who won't plant their genetically modified (GMO) seed. All through the US, the producers of GMO seeds sue farmers in an effort to force farmers to accept GMO seed. Countless farmers have been forced to pay settlements or go bankrupt as a result of these vile corporate interests using federal courts to overrule state courts in the corporation's favor. Irish farmers should prepare themselves to be on the losing end of any, and all, disputes with corporate interests if Lisbon passes.
Former US President G.W. Bush appointed thousands of federal judges who were "business friendly" in order to assist corporations in their fight against the common people. Bush even went so far as to pass tort reform so that national class-action lawsuits could no longer be started in state courts, only in his corrupt federal courts. There would be no repeat of the Tobacco lawsuits in the US ever again thanks to the federal government assuming superior rights over states. This is exactly the kind of thing that the Lisbon Treaty intends to do in Ireland and the rest of the EU once it is locked in.
This type of federalism is what makes the individual states like California or Florida mere subservient members of the greater FEDERAL United States of America. The only difference is that Ireland would lack the rights of a US state due to its small population. Ireland will be relegated to the status of American Samoa, Puerto Rico and Guam (US territories). Ireland will become, in effect, an EU territory due to Ireland's present right to “propose” and decide who Ireland’s Commissioner being abolished in a few years, and replaced with a right to make” suggestions” only, leaving it up to the incoming Commission President to decide (Art.17.7 TEU). Ireland will become the eternal floor mat of the EU. Case closed. We would keep our Irish citizenship, but it would be subordinate to our new EU citizenship and the rights and duties of an EU citizen that would attach to that (Art.9 TEU). This is the same as a New Yorker being a US citizen, but having a "state" driver's licence. It matters not what "state" of the Union (be it American or European) that one originates from; you would still be a sheep-like pawn of the new FEDERAL government established under the Lisbon Treaty power grab scam. We should brace ourselves for many more so-called "peacekeeping" missions—maybe in Iraq and Afghanistan or even Iran and North Korea one day. We as citizens of the federal European Union will no doubt be used as fodder to further the greedy and bellicose interests of the same multi-national corporations that take our government's subsidies to set up in Eire, and then desert their loyal employees in favor of cheaper labor elsewhere.
Under the Lisbon Treaty all member States must endeavor to “progressively to improve their military capabilities” (Art.42.3 TEU) and to aid and assist other Member States” by all the means in their power” (Art.42.7 TEU). The present Irish Army will become like the state National Guard is in the US. It will be under direct control of the unelected EU president that Ireland will not even be able to select. (Art.15.5 TEU). Ireland's opinions will equal zero. Only the largest countries in the EU will have a true voice in any matters of fate and destiny.
The "pushers" of the Lisbon Treaty will be protected by foreign troops who will enter Ireland and execute those found guilty of civil unrest and so on. Yes, the Lisbon "Treaty" contains in its footnotes a provision for a death penalty. The footnote “except in the case of war, riots, upheaval” – then the death penalty is possible.
In sum, the EU is about to become a union of the former Great Powers of Europe, rather than a more U.S style federation with one vote per sovereign state in a Senate. This introduces a new implicit concept of internal imperialism, rather than true federalism. The origin of this misconception of a union is the old German upper house (Bundesrat) that weighted the member states on population, just as the Bundestag (the German House of Representatives). The Germans later exported this to the EU level under the Maastricht Treaty and called it the Council of the European Union, which just as the Bundesrat is a Legislative Body consisting of delegates from the Executive Bodies - the government ministers from the member states. Germany, with its large population will effectively control the EU. Three unelected EU Politburos will control the nuclear weapons of the former nations of Britain and France. The 1963 Treaty of Elysee gives Germany effective voting control of the EU. Hence, nuclear weapons are to be controlled by Germany.
In effect, the EU is turning more into an entity resembling the old USSR rather than the U.S. As Russia strives towards democracy, the bully boys of the EU seek to install an increasingly anti-democratic regime. The endless threats from Barroso and his type clearly demonstrate this fact. Multi-national corporations want to pillage Europe as they have done to the USA. Those pushing Lisbon simply repackaged the failed EU constitution (it failed because people were allowed to vote on it), and called it a treaty.

A Quote from Malta Today best sums up the destruction of protocols and national laws as written in the scam Lisbon Treaty:
The EU Charter of Fundamental Rights
The EU Charter started as a political declaration in 2000 and ended up as Part II of the EU Constitution in 2004. Following the rejection of the constitution the Charter was re-introduced into the second constitutional version, the Lisbon treaty.
The Charter is not much different from the ‘European Convention on Human Rights’ (ECHR). But whereas the ECHR provides the rulebook for the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg (non-EU; Council of Europe), the Charter would fall squarely under the jurisdiction of the EU Court of Justice (ECJ) in Luxembourg. This means that the EU ‘federal supreme court’ would gain direct jurisdiction over the fundamental rights of EU citizens.
"The Lisbon treaty’s ‘EU Charter of Fundamental Rights’ has the “same legal value as the Treaties” (Art. 6[1] Treaty of the EU). This means the Charter’s provisions supersede protocols and declarations, and this primacy is taken into full account when the EU Court of Justice (ECJ) is one day asked to rule over the issue." So, to all the YES on Lisbon camp, here we have a "federal" court system not unlike the corrupt federal court system in the USA. This was mentioned in the second article on this blog Lisbon = USE (United States of Europe) wherein any protocol or national law can be "overruled" by the ECJ (European Court of "Justice") if it gets a notion to change something without giving a vote to the people. This is exactly like the United States Supreme Court does in the USA. We, as Irish men and women, will be treated in the same off-handed way as a person living in say Nevada or California is treated by the US Supreme Court. For example, California voters passed a law in 1996 legalizing medical marijuana; however, the federal government forbade the law and would raid and arrest those involved on a regular basis. Another example from California—The voters passed insurance reform back in 1988 requiring insurance companies to halt charging higher rates to people living in certain postal codes. The law did not go into effect for 20 years (2008) because of the insurance companies using fancy federal, and other, court maneuvers to block the people's will. And no, the insurance companies did not have to "make-up" for the 20 years they overcharged people. Federal courts are great if you're a greedy, rich corporation or a religious cult seeking to convert mass amounts of young people to your way of thinking.
So, under the Lisbon Treaty scam, the ECJ will be technically given the power to ban marijuana in the Netherlands, mandate abortion and gay marriage in Ireland, and strike down ANY Protocol or national law it wishes to eliminate. Why, I'm sure the multi-national corporations are salivating to pillage once this constitution (I mean treaty) is locked in.

The Death Penalty is Hidden in the Lisbon Treaty!
ASK YOURSELF—If Ireland had passed the Lisbon Treaty in 2008, would the NO voter side be allowed to rerun a valid election to get their way?
A quote from Helga Zepp-LaRouche in Executive Intelligence Review, 7 April 2008:
Professor Schachtschneider pointed out that it [the European Union reform treaty, a.k.a. the Lisbon Treaty] also reintroduces the death penalty in Europe, which I think is very important, in light of the fact that, especially Italy was trying to abandon the death penalty through the United Nations, forever.
And this is not in the treaty, but in a footnote, because with the European Union reform treaty, we accept also the European Union Charter, which says that there is no death penalty, and then it also has a footnote, which says, “except in the case of war, riots, upheaval” – then the death penalty is possible.
Schachtschneider points to the fact that this is an outrage, because they put it in a footnote of a footnote, and you have to read it, really like a super-expert to find out! *

The "footnote" in question, directly quoted, is as follows:
3. The provisions of Article 2 of the Charter correspond to those of the above Articles of the
ECHR and its Protocol. They have the same meaning and the same scope, in accordance
with Article 52(3) of the Charter. Therefore, the "negative" definitions appearing in the
ECHR must be regarded as also forming part of the Charter:
(a) Article 2(2) of the ECHR:
"Deprivation of life shall not be regarded as inflicted in contravention of this article
when it results from the use of force which is no more than absolutely necessary:
(a) in defence of any person from unlawful violence;
(b) in order to effect a lawful arrest or to prevent the escape of a person lawfully
detained;
(c) in action lawfully taken for the purpose of quelling a riot or insurrection."
(b) Article 2 of Protocol No 6 to the ECHR:
"A State may make provision in its law for the death penalty in respect of acts
committed in time of war or of imminent threat of war; such penalty shall be applied
only in the instances laid down in the law and in accordance with its provisions…"
How many other footnotes within footnotes "laws" will be enforced on Ireland by the super states within the EU? Ireland won't even have a veto. The ECJ will be able to institute laws without a unanimous vote if it determines that is legal to do so. The fox will be guarding the chicken coop.
